The Overlap is a survival-cosmic-horror 2D sandbox game inspired by hits like Minecraft, Terraria and classic sagas like Fallout, Silent Hill, among others.
Explore procedurally generated wastelands, scavenge resources, craft, build (or should I say 'rebuild'?), customize and upgrade your survivor, face eldritch horrors, survive the post-cataclysmic world, go through hell alongside friends online, rise from the ashes and find out the truth behind it all.
The Overlap takes place after a series of major natural and preternatural catastrophes hit earth. This mysterious event destroyed modern society as it was once known and was later called 'The Cataclysm' by those who survived it. Inexplicably, among the ruins of the nations once built, some of those who didn't succumb to hunger, disease or a violent death... changed, first falling into madness and then slowly turning into wretched beasts.
The soundtrack of The Overlap is being composed by Ivan Starenius, a swedish composer capable of transporting you to whole other worlds through his talent, eurorack and dozens of modular synthetizers.
Ivan also made the soundtrack for the SGA 2021 (Swedish Game Awards) winner, "HOW WE KNOW WE'RE ALIVE":
